My Key Takeaways

97% of deep tech ventures contribute to at least one of the UN’s sustainable development goals (BCG).

It’s impossible to quantify the tremendous impact of deep tech on civilisations throughout history.

From mRNA vaccines releasing societies from lockdowns, and purified glass in fibre optic cables setting the foundations of high speed internet today, to semicon advancements making solar panels increasingly efficient so that our younger generations can hopefully have a blue sky to look up to in the future…

Yet, the irony is that deep tech companies are also the ones struggling the most to secure funding.

An open database of more than 1,600 deep tech investors

I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of examples of investors preferring to invest in “platform-type” tech companies with the hope of faster returns.

So kudos to the folks at Hello Tomorrow for generously sharing this database of more than 1,600 global deeptech investors to help founders who need it the most.

Deep tech startups can use the following filters to quickly identify ideal investors and partners:

1) Type (e.g. VC, CVC/parent company, accelerator, crowdfunding etc)

2) Number of deep tech deals and size of fund

3) Investment stage and ticket size

4) Country/region/sector focus (e.g. materials, biotech, cleantech etc)

Active deep tech investors in Southeast Asia

The database also features key deeptech players which are actively investing in Singapore and Southeast AsiaTemasek, SGInnovate, Singtel Innov8, Antler, Cocoon Capital, Insignia Ventures Partners, Jungle Ventures, Makers Fund, Monk’s Hill Ventures, Openspace Ventures, Quest VenturesSPH Ventures, Vickers Venture Partners and Wavemaker Partners.

Some of the most inspiring conversations I’ve ever had were with deep tech entrepreneurs who know that they were in the very long haul.

What keeps them going?

The unwavering belief that building their deeptech company is the only way for them to bring about the profound and positive change they wish to see in this world.

Hope everyone will continue to share resources and tips to help these deep tech founders most deserving of our utmost respect. 🙌
